“There is an infestation coming for you.”
The taunting started pretty early on. I’ve been playing with Shane for a long time. He’s a great guy and plays a lot of factions so I get a lot of practice in when we play. I ran out of time this week due to work, so I wasn’t able to rework my list. I did, however, swap out the Krondspine for the Primal Energies manifestations and it seemed to work out much better.
The lists were as follows:
Player: ERIC Battle Formation: Sunclaw Starhost Spell Lore: Lore of the Primal Jungles Manifestation Lore: Primal Energies REGIMENT 01 General: Slann Starmaster (280 points) Artefact: Icandescent Rectrices 1. Kroxigors x3 (220 points) 2. Saurus Guard x5 (110 points) REGIMENT 02 Saurus Scar-Veteran n Aggradon (180 points) Heroic Trait: Beastmaster 1. Aggradon Lancers x3 (210 points) |
Player: SHANE Battle Formation: ??? Spell Lore: ??? Manifestation Lore: Manifestations of Doom REGIMENT 01 General: Clawlord on Gnaw-Beast (? points) 1. Clan Rats x20 (? points) 2. Clan Rats x20 (? points) REGIMENT 02 Grey Seer 1. Rat Ogors x3 (? points) 2. Ratling Warpblaster (? points) |
ROUND 01 – DINO-POCALYPSE
Oh no.
So I won the roll off and immediately dropped 2 of the 3 manifestations and he didn’t try to counter them. The one spell he DID try to counter was a “+1 Rend” on my Aggradons, which he did not success in unbinding. With my battle formation and enhancement on my Scar-Veteran on Aggradon, my Lancers were able to move 14″ and we moved forward and got around behind his Rat Ogors with a Round 1 charge (killing all of them). I failed charges with every other model and handed the turn over to Shane. In his turn, he took out half of my Saurus Guard after teleporting with his Clan Rats into my backfield.
ROUND 02 – KROXI-SMACKED?
When they say that Kroxigor are good at clearing infantry, I didn’t expect 28+ wounds hitting a unit of 20 rats. It was ridiculous. It was kind of downhill for him after that. My Aggradons finished off his Claw Lord, my Star-Veteran took out the Gnaw Hole, and all he had left was a handful of Clan Rats engaged with my remaining two Saurus Guard. Needless to say, he conceded before we went into Round 03.
I learned a lot this game!
1. Giving movement to Aggradons won me this game. 100%.
2. More spells per round = Take as many endless spells as you can.
3. “Healing” is for larger monsters and units, not troops. I’m going to switch Spell Lore next time. Gotta read the spells, my dude!
4. If I want to bring models back, I need to bring the Engine of the Gods. (Which I love anyway)
Anyway! Great game. Great afternoon. Really happy with how everything worked out.
It was also the debut of the awesome tokens I picked up off Etsy. I painted them all gold and I started to add some green with a bit of vein-y texture goodness. I have a terrible time remembering bonuses so these made my life so much easier. I also make cards for the Endless Spells + Manifestation Stat Blocks so I didn’t have to flip between pages in the General’s Handbook. I had quite a little crafting day at the Fedex / Kinko’s but I ran out of time before the game so I wasn’t able to prototype out a “dashboard” to track some of my other abilities, but I remembered them all this time, so it worked out in the end.
Next week, I play some Daughters of Khaine against my buddy Kent, so I am going to try and get 2,000 points together. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me for sure! I am excited to put a Stagadon on the table, tho. Check out this sweet baby!
Have a great week, folks!
